"Where do you think we should start?" she asked, look back at the others.

No... not only that, nobody else was even here for him to even begin to make up for what he had done. He had no idea where Natalia was, and Guy seemed to have completely turned his back on him. Not that he could blame anybody; what Luke did was despicable. He knew that. He couldn't undo it; even if nobody knew his moment of hesitation when Van asked him to do it, knowing something was odd about Master Van. Nobody would believe him... he felt even more alone right now than he did while trapped inside of the Fabre Manor.
In any case, he simply nodded, and followed Tear. He may as well start by trying; he went up to the locals and quite bluntly asked if they could direct him to the place where the engineers of the airship gathered.
After several minutes, he returned to Tear. "They said it's that house." he reiterated, pointing.

That Luke had actually gone with someone else's suggestion rather than arguing his own was a pleasant surprise, and it was rather pleasing. He was obviously trying his best, even if he hadn't had the experience to build up common sense.
"Good work," she said, offering the encouragement that she had waited for with bated breath during her training.

Those words... felt good, actually. Luke wasn't entirely certain if he deserved them or not, but it felt good. Really good. He followed Tear into the building, more than willing to let her take the charge from here all things considered; his usual manner of 'asking' them for help would have most likely ended in... well, in a word, failure. Not that anybody was expecting this to be easy to begin with, really. But as long as he could see this through to the end, even if to help to atone for his sins in the past.

Taking a moment to speak with the people who seemed to be in charge, the situation looked bleak - but there was still a chance. Racing through the Meggiora Highlands to assist with recovering the hoverdrive would be a good way to ingratiate themselves to the engineers of Sheridan, who seemed to be willing to let them use their backup "Albiore" if they could recover the hoverdrive and rescue Shinji.
Although the decision was clear, she still turned to Luke to get his input. It was mainly to assess his development, as the answer to such a request was obvious.

"You should probably go home and sleep," she said quietly. "You almost hit the wall. What are you doing out here?" Even though she knew he wouldn't respond intelligibly, like the cheagles he was probably expressive enough to get a basic emotion across.

If the pack alpha were here, he would really chew Noishe out. Maybe literally! ...Okay, maybe not literally.
no subject
It was too bad that she didn't know what he was looking for. More than one person looking would make the process easier. Still, it didn't hurt to offer...
"Would you like some help?"
no subject
Yes, he did need sleep! Noishe really wished he could, though. Yet, if he didn't keep looking...well...Tenebrae would get angry and he didn't want an angry Tenebrae to deal with. Ugh, the very thought of that... It almost made the arshis shiver. He wished he could listen to this lady's advice.
Help? One of the beast's large ears perked at that. But how could she know who he was looking for? How could he get that across? Noise sat still in thought. Could he even trust the melodist? She was human...but so were Raine and Marta, and they were nice, if not a little scary. Instead of providing a proficient answer, he instead fixed Tear with a questioning gaze. How could she know? Was she really not busy?
no subject
She wasn't sure what the arshis was trying to say, but she was still resolute. "If you find something that looks similar to what you're looking for, then I can try to help as best that I can."
Late mun is late and terribly sorry TT
Not that the arshis trusted his brother to do that, of course. However, he had seemed...distraught, so the white-and-green beast thought the black creature would help if was nearby... Not that he was in sight, so he had to cross that idea out.
Well, all he could do was all he could do. He jerked his head towards Tear and other random young women, trying to signify that he was looking for a girl. Problem was, after that...how could he describe her? He would have to think on that...

Any luck finding Marta yet, Noishe?
[it had been a while since they've seen her, and nobody had the faintest clue as to where the little girl had gone]
Is your sense of smell strong?
[... and here comes her scientific curiosity... again]
no subject
No, Tenebrae and I looked all over and...couldn't find her.
[He grimaces because he knows Raine couldn't understand him now. Why did he have to lose that Ring?]
Yes, why?
[Have another "bark."]
no subject
The Sorcerer's Ring must be a truly fascinating piece of fontech in order to translate speak... I simply must get my hands on it when we find it...
[oh, right, Noishe was right there]
Well, I know you're a sacred beast, not a dog. Dogs tend to have wondrous olfactory capabilities, correct? If you sniff out Marta's scent, it should narrow down the places we can look for her!
no subject
[Noishe snorts.]
I have a better sense of smell than a dog! And I already tried, though I was half-asleep...
no subject
You can go ahead and rest up, then, Noishe. I'm stopping by the market, though; is there anything you'd like to eat?
no subject
[The arshis shakes his head. So long as there was meat, he was happy. How did humans eat plants and stuff? Yeck.]
