[Chapter 02 - SCENE] Outside of Keterburg...

Where: Outside of Keterburg
When: After all of the Tartarus drama.

Raine made sure to bundle up warmly, as the Keterburg region's winds were colder than usual around this time of year. What she wouldn't give to be able to dip into the spas right about now! Still, since this was important to Genis, they might be able to stop by the ruins located in Mt. Roneal. It was a while since she was able to look at them again, and since she had to work on a research paper, taking another look and taking notes couldn't hurt. How marvelous~

Still, first things first. Genis had something to show her, and she was going to give him her undivided attention. The clearing should have been good enough. "So, Genis, what is it that you wanted to show me?"

Genis was bundled warmly, too. And he was excited. So excited, in fact, that he could hardly feel the cold.

"Look, sis! I learned something new! Watch, this is cool!" He took his kendama and began concentrating, concentrating ...

"Stalagmite!" Rocky spikes rose from the ground, pushing the snow in the way of them to the sides. He grinned happily, then turned to Raine.

"Wasn't that just awesome?!"

"That's it?" Alice remarked smugly as she approched, putting the boy down.

"I can do much better than that. Casting Stalagmite isn't all that great as you make it seem."

Raine was about to praise Genis for his efforts, but her eyes narrowed as she witnessed the newcomer. Trying to manuever herself in front of Genis was no easy task considering all of the snow, but she tried her best anyway. "Perhaps casting a fonic arte like that may not be a big deal to you, whoever you are, but your unsolicited negative opinion doens't make you any better, either."

Holding up her staff, Raine prepared for the worse. She absolutely abhored children like this who had nothing to say but negative comments.

Genis frowned, making a small 'hmph' sound and crossing his arms over his chest. "Just leave Sis and I alone! We never invited you to be around us!"

Now, normally? Genis was one to try and get to know someone before talking in such a manner to them. But this time, he thought he could make an exception. She was so rude right off the bat, he felt it was the only way to get through to her.

Alice couldn't help but simper on their reactions. She held her left hand on her hip , while the other was waving her whip in front of them. Alice wanted to show them that she won't be scared off so easily. Even she can handle herself when it comes down to that.

"Awww you two won't let poor Alice have a little bit of fun?" Alice derisively said.

"Coming in and taunting my brother unprovoked is not an action which sets well with me, little girl." Raine's expression was dead serious, not understanding the smile on the girl's face. That whip, that outfit, and that attitude... "Neither of us are really suited to become your masochistic companions, so please leave of your own volition. If you do not, I will not hesitate to coerce you to leave. You're outnumbered, anyway, and you've set us in rather ill moods."

Genis only chimed in with a "Yeah!" after his sister's speech; there wasn't much else he could really say, after all. It seemed as if Raine had everything covered, and if this wasn't enough to get that blasted girl away from them, then ... well, they'd figure that out when they got to that point. Fighting seemed a little bit like overdoing it, but Genis wasn't quite sure that they would be left alone, from how this girl was acting.

"Oh so you want me to Leave? Poo, that's not good. Well if that's what you want..." Alice seemed like she was serious about leaving them alone. As she turn the opposite direction and started walking away slowly... That is,until she stopped. "But! That's not how I end a game. " She jumped as if the most exciting thing had happen. " We'll make it end with a great finale! ♥" Afterwards she turned around, she was then getting ready to attack and possibly finish both. "You say I'm out numbered, but as they say, quality over quantity and I'm the best quality there is!"

This was bad. Very bad. Raine wasn't certain what kind of fighter this little girl was, but both Genis and Raine weren't physical fighters. It was insane, but all Alice needed to do to beat them was poke them with a stick to interrupt their casting, since both of them lacked strike artes.

"I'm afraid to think of what kind of quality your standards belie." Raine responded, taking a defensive stance. "Besides, this is far too soon for a grand finale... unless you're talking about you leaving us alone." They were too far from Keterburg for anyone else to take notice, unfortunately, but it was worth a shot given the clear weather. "Photon!" She let out a blast of light in the sky as a flare for anyone who could come to help.

Genis kept mostly quiet; he was hoping that he wouldn't have to use the arte chant he had laying in the back of his mind, but if it came down to a fighting situation ... he was prepared. He held his kendama steadily in his hand, staring ahead with his brows furrowed, in what could have been deep concentration.

Best be prepared. We might be alone here ..

And honestly, that kind of scared him.

Judith shivered. Keterburg was definitely not her favorite place to visit in Auldrant. She tightened her long overcoat over her body as she continued her daily stroll. “So much time wasted here,” Judith whispered as she overlooked the beautiful winter scenery. A month in Keterburg, and nothing to show for it. She sighed; she had been doing that a lot lately. Fortunately though, she was leaving tonight.

Judith was about to change course back to the city, when a large flash in the sky caught her attention. “That flash, where have I seen it before?” she thought aloud as she squinted her eyes to get a better look. She started a sprint towards the general direction of the flash. Something that strange couldn’t be left uninvestigated.

For a moment Alice was blinded by the light. "Was that bad aim or something?" She wasn't aware that Photon wasn't meant for her.

"Oh well, time to get things started!" She went straight directly to Genis, so she can get a swift wack at him with her whip. After all, to Alice, Genis was rather weak from what she saw, especially on the way he's acting right now. "Don't be scared with little old me ♥" One thing's for sure, she wasn't serious with that line.

Raine narrowed her eyes as she stood in front of Genis, and immediately intercepted Alice's whip by pushing against her wrist and using her other hand, Raine promptly laid a firm SMACK! on Alice's face. "Listen, child, agitating people and picking fights are not practices becoming of an adult, and you are becoming an adult! I don't know your reasons, but I'm sure you're making somebody close to you very sad by doing such hurtful things!"

For a moment, Genis was certain that the girl was going to get to him. He knew it wouldn't have been good if she'd gotten to him. He wasn't all too physically strong, really ... and, he admitted to himself, she had broken his concentration when she began to charge toward him like that.

He was grateful for his big sister at that moment.

"Sis .." He managed to squeak out as she defended him just in the nick of time, as per usual.

Judith came to a stop when she noticed the three people in the distance. She noticed a staff in the taller woman’s hands.

Photon.

That was why that flash looked so familiar. “That woman must be a Fonist,” Judith thought aloud. They were all in battle ready stances, but they were just staring at each other. Maybe they were training? Or were they actually fighting? Judith couldn't tell. She pulled her spear out from behind her back, just incase it was the latter."“Is everyone alright over there?” she shouted as she quietly inched closer to the trio.

Faltering back, Alice held her cheek. "You bitch..." To her, how dare that woman even lay a finger on her. She brought back a smile. Alice didn't want anyone to think she's weak by showing anger or sadness.

"Me grow up? Having someone close to me sad? As if!" Though it wasn't the first time someone told Alice to grow up, many other people told her the same thing. Too bad all of them received her divine punishment and the part about her being close to someone... It'd be a shock to herself if that happens. Just then and now, Alice was about to land a little kick right at Raine, till this new comer came. "Why, who is this?"

Raine didn't recognize the newcomer either, but she was glad that her Photon did something. "... Nothing." Raine looked at Alice. She would show this little girl some mercy for now. "Run along now, little girl, town's that way." She pointed. Hopefully Alice wouldn't initiate any more aggression, but it was worth giving her a chance.

For a moment, Alice took a look at Judith and noticed her spear. If she goes further there's a chance she will lose, since now there's a physical fighter. "Fine, but this isn't the last of Alice the Saidistic Loli!" She then moved away from them. Far enough that she can't even see them.
