Who: Van and Meredy
Where: Oracle HQ
When: ND 2010
Warnings: Meredy is a cute loli, Van is a pedo, need we say more? Though Van does seem to prefer little boys over little girls...
Being alone so much in a place like Daath did truly lead to boredom for any normal child. For a child such as Meredy, that was even more the case. The poor girl really had few friends her own age to speak of.
Of course, that tended to mean she found a great deal of mischief in the process. What child could resist a place like Daath with all its secrets and hidden passageways? Even alone she could be entertained for hours by it.
But that wasn't her intent today. She'd actually seen most of the passageways since she explored them rather often. Now she wanted to see the one place she'd been told not to go, Oracle Headquarters.
She knew she'd get in trouble if she was caught here, but that was part of the fun of it, trying not to get caught. She remembered that Balir and Shizel often complained about how stupid the typical Oracle Knight was, so she couldn't imagine it being too hard.
She found out quickly that they had been right, she actually had no problem gaining access to it, she was able to slip right past the Oracle Knights set to guard their headquarters all too easily. Of course, Quickie had been a help there in distracting the guards while she snuck past.
Now came the more difficult part, finding what she wanted to find. Her interest was to find out more about what Balir and Shizel did when they were away all the time. She was very fascinated when she heard the stories of their travels all over the world and about what her father did especially. She loved fon machines, and he probably had some really neat ones down here.
But first she had to find where either Balir or Shizel went when they came down here. That wasn't going to be easy since she couldn't exactly ask anyone and she had to try and remain unseen. But she knew she'd eventually find it, she was quite determined to.

Date: 2009-04-17 04:47 pm (UTC)Fortunately, the 'work' for the day was almost finished. All that was needed to be done was to sign a request to authorize the purchase of more training dummies and then he would be free to leave to do something more worthwhile. He would be returning to Baticul by the end of the week and there were far more important things that had to be done in preparation, if he were to finally start on this plan...
Van stopped in the hallway, frowning slightly as he sensed that something was amiss. Glancing off toward the side, he caught sight of a flash of light purple hair disappearing around the corner. A rather familiar sight at tht.
Chuckling softly, he moved toward the girl and called out, "This isn't a place for children, Meredy. I'm sure your father wouldn't be pleased to find you here."

Date: 2009-04-18 04:13 am (UTC)Of course, what he said wasn't completely true, Balir wouldn't find her here, he wasn't in Daath and wasn't expected back for some time now.
Using the logic of a child, there was only one answer she could give. "But Balir not in Daath, right? Meredy can't be found by him if he not here."

Date: 2009-04-22 07:07 am (UTC)So yes, she was a bit terrified at upsetting her parents. She didn't like to disappoint them at all and wanted to be good, but she also worried about them when they were gone. She didn't know how things really worked, but what this man made sense, since she knew he was in charge of all the soldiers.
So she did all a child could do, she gave a cute and sweet smile in hopes that it would convince this man that he should be nice and not tell. "But he doesn't need to know, Meredy not do any harm here. If anything Meredy show that Balir is right about many knights being idiots if Meredy could just walk past them. Is Meredy so short that they didn't see her?"
Kids really did say the darndest things at times. Of course Meredy wasn't going to mention that she used Quickie to distract them, that would be giving away too much. Of course if Van were smart, he probably could figure out the little creature was involved, since it was at her feet currently.

Date: 2009-04-23 07:22 pm (UTC)"Well then, I suppose if you simply got lost and the guards didn't see you, then there would be no reason to tell your father." If Meredy was prone to wandering off on her own, then that would give him some leverage in the event that Balir ever went against him. No father would allow their child to come to harm if there was anything they could do to avoid it.
At least, no true father would allow such a thing...
An idea came to him and he smiled down at her. "As you're already here, would you like to accompany me to my office? I can show you some interesting things, if you promise not to tell." Even a child this young would surely understand the concept of a fair trade-off. So long as he doesn't tell, she won't as well.

Date: 2009-04-23 08:48 pm (UTC)Meredy liked the idea of getting to see this man's office. She didn't know what interesting things were in it, but she could imagine lots of neat stuff if he was in charge of everyone.
"Meredy would like to see office. Do you have lots of neat fon machines like Balir does?"
It was obvious the girl took after her father quite a bit, she definitely had his obsession with fontech.

Date: 2009-04-27 01:23 am (UTC)After a moment, he held his hand out, not bending down like many others would when they speak with a young child. No child enjoys being talked down to, and many know when they are. Meredy was clearly intelligent enough that treating her as 'just a child' would likely only insult her. "Would you still like to see it? I do at least have some texts on fon machines if you would like to see those."

Date: 2009-04-27 09:53 am (UTC)It was truly the only advantage the odd disorder she had that caused her unusual speech gave, she did enjoy reading. "Meredy would love to see! Meredy love books almost as much as fon machines."
