Melody of the Abyss

Reid was so glad to see Chester, but curious where Arche went off to and who this new woman was with Chester. This would definitely be interesting indeed.

"Yeah, this is Keele Ziebel." Reid said indicating Keele. "Keele, this is Chester Barklight. He arrived in Engeve after you left."

Having gotten the introductions out of the way on his part, he waited for Chester to introduce the other woman and explain what in the name of the Score happened to Arche.

As she followed Chester, Rutee wasn't exactly the happiest about her position here. But she took what she could get, and having a couple guys around to do all the labor for her sounded pretty good.

While the redhead introduced the other guy, Rutee made note that they all came from Engeve. Or at least, they did at one point.

Not waiting for Chester to make introductions for her and make her sound like a bad person, Rutee got her own introduction out of the way, "So you're probably wondering where that pink-haired girl, Arche I think her name was, is right? Well things blew up because Chester said the wrong thing. Being the kind person I am, I didn't want you to have to go on with one less person than planned." Extending her hand for a shake, she grinned, "Rutee Katrea, nice to meet'cha."

Reid took Rutee's hand and shook it. Truly, he didn't know what to make of her, and was more shocked at Arche's departure.

Of course, Reid being a bit dense, he didn't really suspect anything beyond what Rutee said, at least not until he had a chance to get to know her better. At least now he wouldn't feel like a third wheel to Arche and Chester, though Keele's presence would have helped that too.

"Wait, so Arche finally made good on her threats to leave then? Chester, what did you say? Are you sure she's not just hiding somewhere waiting to surprise us all or something?"

Then remembering that he should be polite and acknowledge Rutee. "Oh yeah, nice to meet you, Rutee."

"I didn't do anything!" Chester lied, defending himself. "The bitch decided that she was too good for us, and instead of her, we get... this." Chester motioned to Rutee. "She seems intent on following us. I'm leaving it up to you, Reid, to get rid of her." As much as he hated to admit it, Arche leaving really did bother him to a certain extent. Damned if he was going to admit it to anybody, though.

"I'm quite certain she's not going to be around any longer." Chester crossed his arms. "Anyway, nice to meet you, Keele."

Keele sighed during the introductions. He had no idea what he was getting himself into, and that was a bit worrying. With any luck, he'd get a chance to investigate the mechanism behind the waterfall and go back to his studies.

He gave a nod to Chester and Rutee "Nice to meet you both." and leaned a little closer to Chester to say quietly "You must have incredible patience to travel with Reid, but it seems your other companion didn't."

"To be fair, Arche was bit of a bitch to begin with." Chester sighed. "Compared to her, Reid is much easier to get along with. Besides, all she does is whine whine whine, and would have been tough to travel with. Even in battle all she does is flit around on her broom being a wide open target for everybody to worry about! It's totally better we don't have to give a damn about her." Chester continued his grumbling.

Wow, Chester was definitely irate, Reid never knew Chester to act like this.

Perhaps it was time for a change of subject, to the point in why they even came here in the first place.

"Well, now that that's all out of the way, Keele has given me a spot to check out for this whole thing. Some sort of weird waterfall in this city, hopefully this is what I need to find and we won't have to check all the waterfalls in this city."

Keele gave a nod alongside Reid, filling in the particulars of the fountain. "It's the only one of any real uniqueness in the city. The rest vary by size. Though, I'm not exactly sure what you expect to find there. It lacks a source and is kept flowing by being attended to daily by a fonist."

For the most part, Rutee could only watch the continuous back and forth between all the guys around. Would she really have to travel with these people? Well, there was that, or she could make a quick buck by getting all their gald when they were asleep. But that would probably end up being a last resort.

Upon the mention of a weird waterfall, her curiosity was piqued. Could that waterfall perhaps have any treasure around it that she could sell to the highest bidder? The only way to get that answered was to ask. "Er, hey guys?" she interrupted before she would be excluded from the conversation once more, "Can I ask what's this about a waterfall?"

"Attended to by a fonist?" Chester's grumpface was immediately replaced by an expression of surprise. "Is there a reason why a fonist would need to attend to it?" It seemed a bit odd to him; certainly Chester wasn't a fonologist, but if a fonist had to tend to something like that, perhaps... "So there's a concentration of fonons in the waterfall?"

He wasn't that smart, but perhaps he was on the right track.

With a brief sigh at having to explain again, Keele...explained. "The waterfall lacks a source. It's more of an elaborate fountain than anything. It's kept flowing by daily applications of fonic artes."

Truly, all this just didn't make very much sense to Reid, and really, he much preferred to just go and deal with things head on. Discussing this waterfall wasn't going to get them anywhere, but going there and investigating further would.

"So why don't we just go look at this waterfall Keele mentioned? You know where it is, right, Keele? Why don't you lead the way then? This isn't getting us anywhere."

The group's archer simply nodded in agreement with Reid. "A lot of this stuff goes over my head, but it seems as good of a lead as any. PLus, if Reid is willing to trust Keele's judgment, then so am I."

Finally. All this time wasted with introductions and explanations was getting to be a bit much. He looked to Reid and Chester "It's a ten minute walk from here, just follow me.", Keele then glanced to Rutee, a bit unsure of her by how casually she seemed to replace the 'pink haired girl' of the trio. "I imagine you're coming too?"
