Who: Asch and Meredy
Where: Daath, in Meredy's quarters
When: Before all the God-Generals leave to find Ion
Warnings: Contains Meredy/Asch fluff
Asch walked down the corridor toward Meredy's quarters. He wanted to see her, but hated why he had to come. Bracing himself for the inevitable pouncing, he tapped on the door.
Meredy heard a knock on the door and quickly got up to answer it. Few people came to see her really, so it wasn’t hard to guess who it may be. She opened the door and was happy to see Asch and gave him a hug before pulling him inside. “Meredy is so happy to see Asch!”
Asch couldn't help but smile. "I'm glad to see you as well."
Meredy didn’t release her hold on Asch, she very much enjoyed being with him and he was always so busy, but then so was everyone. “So what brings Asch to Meredy?”
Asch sighed. He didn't want to have to tell her... Heck, he didn't want to have to leave in the first place! "Fon Master Ion is missing, Meredy," he started.
Meredy had already heard about that, news did tend to travel very fast in Daath, especially when one had friends and family in the higher ranks. She already knew Balir was leaving, he had stopped by to tell her earlier and she had been very sad to hear that too. “Does that mean Asch is leaving too?”
Asch looked down. "I've been ordered to search for him around Akzeriuth."
So Asch wasn’t even going to be in the same area as Balir, he’d been ordered to a different area, and he had been rather excited about his own orders though he couldn’t explain in much detail. But it always amounted to the same, she was alone and left to her own devices all because she wasn’t a part of the Order. She knew better than to ask to come along, they couldn’t take her on missions even though she was perfectly capable of taking care of herself. “But searching for Fon Master isn’t a dangerous mission. Meredy will see Asch again soon, right?”
"I hope so, Meredy. Once we find the Fon Master, there's a few other things we have to do, but it shouldn't take long." Not long, with how cooperative the Fon Master always was. "Would you like me to bring you back anything? Akzeriuth is a mining town, but they might have some interesting trinkets."
Meredy did hope it would be as easy as it sounded. She didn’t like waiting for those she cared about to return safely and know that they would just leave again soon. Truly, it was times like this that she was tempted to join the Oracle Knights also, but she knew very well that she’d see Asch even less then. “If Asch wants to bring something back. Meredy like surprises.” She told him with a smile that she really didn’t completely feel.
Asch knew she wasn't happy, but there was nothing he could do. As much as he hated Van for what he did, Van was still right, his family and friends had accepted the replica in his place without even thinking twice, and he had nowhere he could go outside of Daath. "I promise, I'll return as soon as I can."
“As long as Asch and Balir stay well so they can return, Meredy will be happy. Meredy will work on Balir’s research while both are gone.” She told him as she held onto him even tighter.
"I'm sure your father will appreciate that," Asch told her, gently loosening her arms before she suffocated him.
Meredy smiled, this time more genuine. She actually did enjoy doing all the calculations and such for Balir, it was fun, especially because it was something useful to do. “Meredy enjoy it almost as much as being with Asch.”
"I should hope I'm better company than those machines."
“Asch is the best company there is! But Meredy can’t go to Akzeriuth with Asch.” She smiled as an idea came to her. “And Meredy can play great prank on Dist while he gone too.”
Asch grinned. "Oh? Dist's lab go boom?" he asked hopefully.
It was tempting to make Dist’s lab explode, but what Meredy really wanted was to find the specs for that chair of his. “After Meredy figure out how to build silly floating chair it might. And read revenge journal. Meredy want to see if she truly in it all hundred or so times he said so.”
"The revenge journal, even better! I want to know what he has written in there about that 'Jade the Necromancer' from Malkuth. I heard that he's always cursing him."
“Meredy not find revenge journal yet. Dist must keep it with him. Meredy did find strange stuffed thing. It was person with brown hair and blue clothing.”
"Well, keep looking." Asch got an idea. "Meredy, I'm hereby giving you the mission of finding the revenge journal. If at all possible, a copy should be made of it. If not, note it's location, but make sure it's exactly how you found it. We don't want Dist to know we found it." Asch thought about what she had found. "Blue clothing? Hmmm... I'll try to find out who the doll is of for you."
“Meredy would like that. And Meredy will do best to find revenge journal before making lab go boom.” She said happily.
Asch smiled. "Good." He stood up. "I hate to go, but my ship departs soon."
Meredy really didn’t want him to go so soon, but at least this wasn’t to be anything too lengthy and soon he and Balir would be back and things would be back to normal again. “Then Asch should go so he can return soon,” she told him before she stood up on her tiptoes and gave him a kiss.
Asch flushed as red as his hair at her kiss.
